Open source DAISY readers and client libraries
Open Source Readers that we would love to see be integrated with the Bookshare API:
AMIS - A software program that you can use to read DAISY books. It is self-voicing, meaning that no specialized screen-reading software is needed in order for it to be used by visually impaired people. AMIS is open source software and is provided free of charge. We would love to see developers integrate the Bookshare API with AMIS.
AnyDaisy - An open source Firefox extension which allows reading of DAISY books. We would love to see developers integrate the Bookshare API with AMIS.
Olearia - A free open source Macintosh based DAISY playback software under development at Curtin University Centre for Accessible Technology. We would love to see developers integrate the Bookshare API with AMIS.
Open Source Readers that have been integrated with the Bookshare API:
FBReaderJ - A fork of the open source Android reader, FBReaderJ, that downloads and reads DAISY 3 books from Bookshare via the Bookshare API. It has already been integrated with the Bookshare API, but there's still plenty to do, so join our team of contributors.
Client Libraries/Wrappers
Python Bookshare API Wrapper - Python library for the Bookshare API developed and contributed by Alex Hall
Prototypes:
ChromeWebApp - Prototype of Chrome web app that leverage Chrome's new TTS APIs to provide voice input and self-voicing interfaces. It also implements JSON responses from the Bookshare API.
